Whirlpool WMC20005YB 0.5 Cu. Ft. Black Countertop Microwave Review
The Whirlpool WMC20005YB is a small microwave designed to fit in a corner. At 750 watts it’s more powerful than other microwaves of this size.
This 0.5 cubic foot microwave has a large turntable that can hold a large dinner plate. The 750 watt power allows for shorter cooking times than most comparably sized microwaves.
The window in the door is large and the controls are at the bottom rather than on the side. It has a pocket handle door and a control panel lock.
One potentially frustrating aspect of this microwave is that it has no keypad, so setting the time manually involves pressing a button to set the time in 5 second increments.
The only food preset is for popcorn. There are reheat and defrost buttons.
While the WMC20005YB lacks the comprehensive options found in many microwaves, its small size plus relatively high power make it a great option in compacts microwave ovens.
The corner-fitting design makes it even more space saving, but with a depth of just under 14 inches it works fine as a front-facing countertop unit.
The price is a bit higher than some other compact microwaves, probably due to the size and design.
- Corner design works in a corner or front-facing
- Very small
- Higher power than most comparably sized units
- Limited programming options
