Most of us know that Black & Decker make great power tools. The Black & Decker LST300 is no exception to this knowledge. It is a battery powered trimmer and edger. The battery is 20-volt lithium-ion which means it charges fast, lasts long and has a long life cycle.

The design is ergonomic and it has an extendible handle to suit people of different heights. So you won’t worry too much if you’re taller or shorter. The handle also pivots to suit different angles so you can get into those hard to reach areas and trim neatly. It is lightweight so you won’t put much strain on your arms while in usage. It will cut 12-inches around and is automatic line feed stopping the need for you to stop and bump. The switch from trimmer to edger is easy as you can quickly switch from trimmer to edger using the flip feature.

Overall it’s a nicely designed, long lasting and economical battery powered trimmer/edger. You may want to buy an extra battery if you have a lot of trimming to do as typically battery powered power tools of this calibre last around 40 to 50 minutes.

How to Choose a Battery Powered Cordless Grass String Trimmer

Cordless battery powered sting trimmers are a popular choice for their quiet operation, low carbon emissions ease of use and negating the need to fill with gas plus more. What is it that you need to look out for when choosing the one for your needs?

Battery & Power

Usual battery runtime for a cordless grass strimmer is between 40 to 50 minutes. Depending on the type of battery (lithium-ion being most preferred for its fast charging, long lasting and long life cycle features), will depend on what usage time and power you get. Other things to look out for are the volts and amps so you can tell how powerful the trimmer might be.

Brand

There aren't many brands that make battery powered grass trimmers which makes it quite easy to make a decision. There are some more reputable and supportive brands than others. Researching the brand before purchase could be a good idea.

Usage/Features

If you want a trimmer to last very long then battery powered might not be for you. Decide what your usage needs are and match the features to this. For example, some trimmers double up as edgers or have extending handles. What features do you need to get the job done?

Automatic or Manual Line Feed

When feeding the line while trimming do you want it to be automatic or manual? Manual is usually the stop and bump method and automatic there is no need. There is also trimmers with dual capability. Some people will prefer automatic but some complain it can get awkward when enough line doesn't feed. Be aware of this.

Size, Ergonomics & Weight

As you will be using the trimmer for lengthy periods of time you comfort is important . If the trimmer doesn't have a comfort grip handle will your hands suffer? Or if it is heavy, will you be able to carry it for the amount of time you need?
